Don't use the website tag for Arivac's URL

website=* is for indicating the website of the geographical feature, not the source. --seav 04:47, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

source:url is fine?

This is OK. --seav 06:03, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Issues with Arivac's IDs and their intended use

This should be OK, but Arivac should know that there is no imperative that these IDs will be maintained in OSM. Ways get split and merged in OSM and existing roads in OSM that they also have in their database won't get synced because the IDs won't be there. Because of this, Arivac should not rely on these IDs being present in the OSM database in the long term. If they want to keep up, either they adapt their technology to directly source from OSM or they use sophisticated road matching technologies to determine the updates needed on their side. There is also the matter of the licensing issues on the upstream side. --seav 06:08, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

I raised this issue with the Arivac guys. Although I'm sure they are aware of this scenario being OSMer themselves in Europe. Maning 07:11, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
