Yes - for most tags generally where there's a suggestion to "change X to Y" or "use X instead of Y" I try and render both X and Y. In this case I suspect the relevant bit is https://github.com/SomeoneElseOSM/SomeoneElse-style/blob/master/style.lua#L1552 . Bot edit permission

I think that you have already community acceptance for bot edit required by Automated Edits code of conduct (unless I missed some opposition to proposal of bot edit made on mailing list). And after fulfilling other requirements (wiki page documenting it, this may be useful as template, or something else also can be used as a base) I think that you may simply run bot edit - and that would be probably the end of this tag.
