Most Accurate Building Outline

Is the building outline most accurately the extent of the building roof as seen from a top-down (plan) view? Or is it the extent of the foundation of the building? Or is it the extent of the outer-most walls of the building that encompass closed areas? IanVG (talk) 16:04, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

Preferably, wall lines. It is not always possible to tell from aerial imagery if there are walls beneath a roof however, e.g. in the case of garages vs carports, so it is accepted practice to just draw as best as you can, with the information you have available. Later refinement is always possible, after all. Roofs which extend only a little over a house's walls are usually not mapped; if it is sufficiently large though (-> carport), it can become a polygon of its own.
