Comparing aeroway=navigationaid and airmark=beacon

It came to light that there are two parallel tagging schemes for aircraft navigation infrastructure, aeroway=navigationaid and airmark=beacon (Note: linking to the German wikipage as there is not much documentation on the English airmark=beacon page). The table below compares them. In addition, some features with each tag are cross-tagged with man_made=beacon, and there are even some beacon=airmark tags too. :S

Aerial lighthouse

How to tag historical  Aerial lighthouse used to guide aircraft with lighted beacons at night?

  1. aeroway=navigationaid + beacon:type=*
  2. airmark=beacon + beacon:type=*
  3. man_made=beacon + beacon:type=*
  4. man_made=tower + tower:type=*
  5. man_made=lighthouse + ?

man_made=lighthouse is for watercraft, so it is incorrect Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 20:01, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
