Slurry pit

How to tag a "circular concrete structure where farmers gather all their animal waste" ?

Osmose suggest man_made=wastewater_plant for round shape buildings, but I think that this tag is not appropriate ?

Domestic and Industrial?

This tag is used only for those places where a farmer has domestic pigs or can it also be used for large industrial pig farms? AntMadeira (talk)

There's indeed a gap in perceived size and instances from building=sty and building=chicken_coop, to building=cowshed.

The thing is a sty is not considered a building, but an outdoor enclosure where pigs are raised. Is there a more appropriate tag for the kind of building where hundreds of pigs are raised under a roof? --AntMadeira (talk) 04:25, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
I have the impression "sty" is used for both enclosure and structure. ---- Kovposch (talk) 04:29, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
Given the ambiguity of "pigsty", "piggery" may be a better term. "Lot" is also used outside. "Shed" would standardize it with cows. ---- Kovposch (talk) 04:29, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

sty mostly used for larger pig farms

Investigating the use of this tag (on 2022-02-09), I see that it is very often used to describe the larger type of pig farms, where hundreds of pigs are kept in the same building, deviating from the original description in this wiki.
We maybe should start using:
building=sty
sty=pig_farm (or any other description that fits the use)
to make it possible to keep the difference with the type of sty as originally described in this wiki.

Last year, there was a somewhat long and interesting discussion about this on the tagging mail list. Please, check: https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2021-May/061569.html --AntMadeira (talk) 12:36, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
