usefulness

This key can is not necessary as there are many who already use note=FIXME + comment, in this case I would use note="FIXME add location name". If a noname key is to be used, than I suggest it to be used on locations that don't have or need a name-placer, or where the name of a location don't need to be rendered. --Skippern 22:59, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

noname is more useful for partially-automated tasks than notes, which are designed primarily for the benefit of manual editing. Also, you seem to have the purpose reversed; locations with names that are not yet recorded in OSM are explicitly not noname=yes (with a stretch of imagination I suppose they might be noname=no, but at that point why not just survey the name?). noname -> noname=yes

I moved the key page to Tag:noname=yes, because all the descriptions were about the tag, not the key, and this key doesn't have any other values. I don't know how to change in the data item "permanent key ID" to "permanent tag ID" - looks like this is the only part that I can't edit. maro21 18:54, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Maro, your change is fine to me. As far as I know we though always should have both data items, for the tag and for the key, because they are different types of items. So I propose to reset the existing item to key and create a new one for the tag. regards --Chris Chris2map (talk) 20:11, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
So how to edit the part I mentioned? Is it possible? Is it restricted for admins? As I can see all the data items were created by a bot, but it's inactive now... maro21 21:35, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
I havn't tried. Changing the entry of the permanent ID is possible by simply creating another permanent ID and then (if you have 2 entries for permanent ID) you can delete one of them (e.g. the older one). I don't know what would happen if you created a permanent tag ID to a data item that already has a permanent key ID. Therefore the easier way I proposed is to let the existing data item as key to the Key:noname and created a whole new data item as tag to the Tag:noname=yes. The link between a data item and a wiki page can easily be changed / updated by special page (Special:SetSiteLink) at any time. Since the bot has died some users including me create new data items from time to time. --Chris2map (talk) 23:27, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
I don't understand how I can create a new data item using this form :o maro21 15:08, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
I made a short explanation at Talk:Data items#Item creation by hand, hopefully helpful. - regards, Chris2map (talk) 20:32, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
