aeroway=tower

Sometimes aeroway=tower is used for the same purpose. Which tag of both should be preferred?--geozeisig (talk) 09:33, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

It also is very confusing why both wiki pages service=aircraft_control and aeroway=tower are almost completely identical? Markkerrigan (talk) 02:17, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

service=aircraft_control might not be a physical tower - it might be an area control center or a "virtual tower" viewing a video feed from an airport remotely. I don't know if the tag is actually used this way though. Right now the two wiki pages contradict each other, with the page on aeroway=tower saying no other tags are required while service=aircraft_control saying that aeroway=tower must be used with itself. --Kakurady (talk) 13:25, 16 August 2026 (UTC)

tower:type=observation

Shouldn't the tower:type usually be observation?
