Are there any issues using Burmese with potlatch/flash or JOSM? --katpatuka 13:48, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Myanmar language support in OSM
Some people requests if they can use Myanmar language version of the OSM. So I checked. I can help convert all street names to a standard Myanmar Unicode format, and give it back to OSM. How do we do it. Please educate me.

- Welcome to the project! We'd love to have your help with some Myanmar translations.
- The language code for Myanmar is 'my'. So you can edit any OpenStreetMap data and add the tag name:my and then the name. You can do this on any worldwide cities for example, to provide a translation. For local things in Myanmar, you can just add the name in the main 'name' tag. If there is already a name on a road in English (here for example) then you should change this key to give name:en=Lanmadaw Street After that you can add the 'name' tag with the Myanmar name. The main name tag should be in the local language, and translations appear in name tags with language codes.
- There are several other areas where we need assistance with translations. For example the openstreetmap website interface could be translated. That happens here: 'my' Myanmar translations of OpenStreetMap.org. You can find out more on the Translations page.
