Hi, My name is Deanna Earley (You'd never have guessed...) and I live in the Southampton area.

I have been updating the roads on OSM around Hedge End, and am the author of OpenRoute, a windows mapping and navigations application.

Equipment

I have now purchased a nice BU353 GPS mouse connected to my car PC in conjunction with GPSGate to save the NMEA logs. These are then passed through GPSBabel to convert to the final GPX traces.

When I'm away from the car, I use an ancient Garmin eMap, and transfer the active logs to MapSource to save as GPX traces.

I can then import these logs into JOSM. This allows me to add any new nodes and segments, and when I've completed and confirmed a whole road (and know its name) I convert it to a way with the appropriate tags.
