Acronyms & definitions

  • CVT (Capacitor Voltage Transformer) and a CCVT (Coupling Capacitor Voltage Transformer) - tap into the high voltage and convert it to low voltage that is connected to measuring instruments in the control building. CCVT differs from CVT in that it allows data communications over power line (PLCC) using high frequency (40-500 kHz) which can include voice, telemetry, & protection tripping commands. [1]
