bus:lanes=* describes the legal accessibility for buses on a per-lane basis. yes denotes lanes where buses are permitted but not dedicated (e.g. a bicycle lanes which permits buses) and designated denotes dedicated bus lanes (which may or may not be exclusive to them). Example: yes|yes|designated.

For bus-only lanes, restrictions applied to other vehicles can be represented using tags such as motor_vehicle:lanes=* or vehicle:lanes=*.

Indicated bus:lanes by direction

The direction suffixes can be combined to define the indicated bus:lanes in a specific direction for a way: bus:lanes:backward=* and bus:lanes:forward=*.

bus:lanes=* bus:lanes:forward=* bus:lanes:backward=*
