The tag maxspeed:type=NL:motorway indicates that the road
- is in the European part of the Netherlands,
- has no signed speed limit,
- is outside the built-up area (buiten de bebouwde kom,
zone:traffic=NL:rural), and - is a motorway (autosnelweg,
motorway=yes),
and that therefore the default 130 km/h speed limit applies, according to article 21 sub a of the Reglement verkeersregels en verkeerstekens 1990.

On almost all motorway segments, the speed limit during daytime is reduced to 100 km/h via a sign. The corresponding tagging is:
