The landing=* key is used to document how many landings (resting places) there are on a staircase (highway=steps) or ramp (highway=(footway/path) with incline=*). It is also often used in a less specific manner by just indicating whether or not landings exist at all, using the tags landing=yes and landing=no.

Please only count landings that are part of the way you apply this tag to. If the landing is already mapped as a separate way, then you should not add landing=yes or a non-zero number of landings to the stairs or ramp.
