The outdoor=* key is used to indicate that the feature it is attached to is - fully or partially - outdoors. It is typically used for features that exist both indoors and outdoors.

Most frequently it is used with the value outdoor=yes. The complementary tag is indoor=*. Please note a feature that has both indoor and outdoor properties can have both tags.

Example

Sports climbing can be performed at natural rock faces and artificial structures. Some artificial facilities have indoor and outdoor routes, thus a typical tagging would be:

leisure=sports_centre
sport=climbing
outdoor=yes
indoor=yes
and further details following the climbing scheme.

Possible Tagging Mistakes

If you know places with this tag, verify if it could be tagged with another tag.
