More than just matrix

I like the proposal. For Proposed_features/Snow_chains it turned out that there are many more ways traffic signs can be variable: a) manual: coverable, turnable, flippable, detachable, etc. b) remote controlled: flexible text message displays, rotatable prism, rolling boad etc. See [1] and the differnt language versions. Let's add them to the proposal. --Trapicki (talk) 08:39, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

Should comment on traffic_sign=variable_message. However this is more about dynamic text message, freeform on top of some pre-defined ones.
Think I mention other possibilities for pedestrians when discussing man_made=video_wall with advertising=screen, and maybe passenger_information_display=* with departures_board=*.

Relation to Active (Dynamic) Traffic Control

We must not confuse the actually variable traffic signs with the Active/Dynamic Traffic Management systems they are only part. active_traffic_management=* is in some use in the UK only, obviously encodign the traffic signs, but naming it by the system.--Trapicki (talk) 09:28, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
