Proposal

Provide a way to map small sport related features.

Rationale

This is relevant when micromapping since there does currently not exists a tagging scheme for individual sport-related features on a pitch. Furthermore, such a scheme is useful when the pitch is not in use anymore and in a bad condition but some of the features such as basketball hoops and soccer goals are still there.

man_made=sport_feature + sport_feature=*

When possible, i.e. when the sport is unambiguously, sport=* should be added.

Additionally, for a lot of features direction=* provides extra value.

Currently in use

The currently in use leisure=pitch + sport=basketball + hoops=* allows for specifying the amount of hoops a pitch has, but not for the location of these hoops. Furthermore, according to leisure=pitch a hoop without a pitch currently must be tagged leisure=pitch + sport=basketball on a node which is ambiguous.

According to TagInfo the tag man_made=soccer_goal is currently used 16 times. This is not a uniform solution since that would flood man_made with values such as soccer_goal, basketball_hoop, hockey_goal,...

Features/Pages affected

• The pitch page says that a hoop without a pitch should be tagged leisure=pitch.
• The page of sport lists all values for this key and states that most of them should only be tagged on Nodes or Areas . This conflicts with real life features such as tennis nets or soccer goals which can be represented with a way .
• On the page of long jump an specific scheme for long jump features is suggested.
