A wind turbine is a device that converts kinetic energy from the wind into mechanical energy. If the mechanical energy is used to produce electricity, the device may be called a wind generator.

For traditional windmills, historically used to mill grain with wind power, use man_made=windmill instead.

To map a wind farm, first map the individual turbines as generators, then map the wind farm as a power=plant with plant:source=wind
