The building:part=roof tag is used for parts of a building that consist solely of a roof structure — such as canopies, awnings, or visors — with no vertical walls. This is useful for accurately modeling features like floating roofs or overhangs.

Rendering support

This tag is supported by the F4 Map[1] and the Urban Eye 3D[2]. Note that building:part=roof is not the same as just having roof:height equal to building:height

In those renderers, you can override the default behavior (no walls) by adding wall=yes.
