This tag says whether or not there is a ramp available. It's usually used on staircases: ways that are tagged with highway=steps. A ramp can for example be built next to a stairway to allow access to the higher ground for people who use a wheelchair or have a bike. To differentiate between different types of ramps, you can use the keys from the table below.

A standalone ramp without steps can be tagged with highway=footway and incline=*.

Ramps

This is for ramps that are included in the stairway itself. Ramps that run physically separated (e.g. separated by a fence, height difference or wall), should be drawn separately.

Tag Description Picture Usage
ramp=yes There is a ramp, try to be more precise if possible. ramp=yes on waysedit

ramp=yes on nodesedit

ramp:stroller=yes A pair of ramps with a small flight of stairs in the middle. Steps stroller ramp.jpg
ramp:bicycle=yes One ramp at the side of the steps, that can be used to push your bicycle up. Sometimes called a "runnel". Wikipedia:Bicycle_stairway Steps bicycle ramp.jpg
ramp:wheelchair=yes A shallow ramp that can be used by wheelchairs. It shouldn't be steeper than 4-6% and wide enough. SSF Main Library wheelchair ramp 1.JPG
ramp:luggage=yes/automatic/manual A ramp for luggage (e.g. at the train station). automatic means it moves by itself (conveyor belt) while manual only provides an even surface where you can slide your luggage up and down more easily. Luggage Ramp Nuremberg.jpg
ramp=separate There's a ramp that leads to the same destination as these stairs close by, but it is mapped as a separate way in OpenStreetMap. That separate way itself can be tagged with highway=footway and incline=*. Handicapped steps near PNC Park.. one year later (3451933262).jpg

ramp=no No ramp at all. This is the default, but it's useful to add this for completion and to aid routing for people in wheelchairs.

Presets

Ramp is included in the internal JOSM preset (since version 8011).

You can also add presets that uses the proposed scheme to JOSM. Just add the "Steps properties" preset in the JOSM presets properties (http://osmtools.de/josm/steps.xml)
