Platform lifts are used to elevate a wheelchair user across height differences, like steps, stairs or other vertical barriers.
This tag indicates the existence of a platform lift at a certain feature and can describe two kinds of platform lifts:
- stair lifts - They are installed on or nearby stairs and help wheelchair users to overcome them.
- portable lifts - They are moveable and can be found at railway platforms to help wheelchair users on- and off board vehicles.
|
|
Note: The platform in platform_lift=* should not be confused with the platform of a public transport stop or station. In this case the platform is the area where wheelchair users roll onto to be lifted up, in contrast to a seat mostly used on incline stair lifts. |
Usage
As a stair lift
Add the key platform_lift=* to the
with highway=steps with one of the following values: yes/no/inclined/vertical.
In this case platform_lift:portable=no is implied.
As a portable lift
Add the Key platform_lift=* and platform_lift:portable=yes to the element for example a public transport platform tagged with public_transport=platform.
Standalone
If the platform lift is not attached to any stairs or steps, treat the platform lift as highway=elevator and indicate its restrictions and limitations by adding wheelchair=designated and capacity=1.
