The tag platform_lift:portable=* is used to indicate if a platform lift is portable or not. Portable means that the platform lift can be moved around by a person. Portable platform lifts are usually found at railway platforms to help wheelchair users on- and off board trains.

Usage

Add platform_lift:portable=yes/no to an element tagged with platform lift=*.

If platform_lift=* is tagged on highway=steps then platform_lift:portable=no is assumed.

Example

Image Description
Portable lift at Lechmere station, March 2022.jpg This is a portable platform lift, because it can be moved around at the railway platform.

It is described by adding the following tags to the railway=platform or public_transport=platform element:

Residential Wheelchair Lift installed against raised deck.jpg This is a non-portable platform lift, because it is installed in a fixed position (at the stairs) and therefore cannot be moved around.

It is described by adding the following tags to the way with highway=steps:

Similar tags

  • ramp:portable=* - If a ramp is portable, i.e. it is not permanently installed.
