Pickleball is a game similar to tennis but played with solid, non-compressible paddles and a slow-flying, hollow, perforated plastic ball. The court is similar to a shuttlecock court in dimensions but the net is lowered like a tennis net.
Don't confuse it with sport=tennis, which is played with strung rockets on a larger court (two pickleball courts can fit within the space of one tennis court) or with sport=paddle_tennis, played with solid, perforated paddles and a low-compression tennis ball.
How to map
Since this is a non-physical tag, it should be combined with other (physical) tags; e.g.:
leisure=pitch- An area designed for practising sport, normally designated with appropriate markings.leisure=sports_hall- A sufficiently large single room that is suitable for practising sports indoors and does not have a "centre" character.leisure=sports_centre- A sports centre is a distinct facility where multiple sports take place within an enclosed area.shop=sports- A shop selling sports equipment and clothing.club=sport- A club for the purpose of playing or supporting one or more sports.
To map the fence around the court, draw it as a separate way and tag it with barrier=fence (refer to the One feature, one OSM element principle).
Useful combination
name=*- If the pickleball court, sports hall, shop etc. has a name.surface=*- To indicate the surface type. (e.g. grass / clay / asphalt)access=*- Provides information if playing here is publicly available.
