DynamicPageList

I've proposed installing the DynamicPageList extension, which could supplement this page by automatically populating a list of key and tag description pages as they gain "de facto" status (one of the alternative paths by which a tag becomes established in OSM). Currently, it's pretty difficult to determine what's new in a large category such as Category:Key descriptions with status "de facto", but the DPL extension can do that automatically. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 06:36, 12 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

That sounds like a good idea. Can that be configured that it would follow the structure year > month > Added and insert a new bullet point? --Mashin (talk) 14:31, 12 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Mashin: Maybe not out of the box, but if organization is an issue, we could always make the DPL part of the talk page as a source for populating the changelog manually. In the meantime, while we wait for that extension, we can use this API call to find key/tag description pages that were recently changed to "de facto". It's a little messy because sometimes things like breaking and fixing the syntax for the infobox can cause it to get "added" to the category. A similar API call can find recently approved tags too. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 19:33, 12 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Having the DPL here and copying manually seems good, as it won't require much work and it would help saving time with search for changes. Maybe in the future someone will make a bot that would do it automatically. --Mashin (talk) 20:30, 12 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

List also de facto tags?

In my opinion it would be also OK to try listing de facto tag changes - not everything will be caught, but it would be also useful Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 07:10, 15 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I would just like to limit it to those for which the status change was at least announced on mailing list and there weren't objections. --Mashin (talk) 18:02, 16 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
The fact that a wiki editor decides that a tag status should shift to "de facto" is not a meaningful milestone by itself. The distinction between "in use" and "de facto" is completely arbitrary. However, I would be in favor of, for example, noting that a certain tag became supported by a renderer or editor preset, if such information was easy to access. --ZeLonewolf (talk) 20:50, 15 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Utility

@Something B:: Why have you added the utility tags to January 2023 changelog? These tags were approved 4 years ago. Or have I missed something? Discostu36 (talk) 11:43, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

See Proposed_features/Utility_facilities. Something B (talk) 11:45, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I missed that somehow, thanks! Discostu36 (talk) 11:57, 27 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
