Wouldn't it be useful to add 6 as value here for extra-long articulated buses or double-articulated ones (with a break between 5 and 6 at 18 meters)? --Joschi81 (talk) 16:57, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- This is mass added, a potential import https://taghistory.raifer.tech/?#***/bus_class:length/
What you asked is still not the OSM format. Human-readable words should be used, not numbered id as found in standard GIS. Unless there is some special national classification.
There's overlap withbus=minibus
. Should be considered with Proposal:Differentiation for routes of public transport in mind generally.bus_class=*
isn't used in the first place. So there's no need forbus_class:length=*
yet.
It's uncertain if this should be an attribute, or a separate vehicle mode. Cfminbus=*
,hgv_articulated=*
etc.- The problem is some of the words may be fuzzy, or have different meanings in different countries
van
/microbus
minibus
midibus
heavy
? (standard 10~12m "transit bus")articulated
biarticulated

- Number of axles, and double-deckers aren't covered yet. They would have same length, and even shorter than articulated buses. Maneuverability is also affected by rear axles steering.
For completeness, the 25vehicle_type:bus=*
would be inappropriately extendedingvehicle_type=*
(only needed to avoid conflict withvehicle=*
) /vehicle:type=*
(meaningless*:type=*
suffix) forhistoric=vehicle
Cftaxi_vehicle=*
(I don't like it)
