All facilities?

I could relate to tagging the publicly known Headquarters buildings such as the MI6 Ziggurat in London, or the CIA at Langley, but wonder if we should be mapping "all" intelligence facilities, particularly covert / undercover ones? --Fizzie41 (talk) 23:30, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

In the end it is the individual mapper to decide whether they include something or not, but verifiability is a general and strong requirement for inclusion in OpenStreetMap, so covert facilities are typically excluded until they become more known. —Dieterdreist (talk) 00:57, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
verifiable ones can be mapped. And if OSM mapper can map one without violating verifiability rule, then it is not covert or undercover one Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 09:22, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

man_made=*?

Isn't most of them an office=*? For instruments related facilities, they could already be eg man_made=monitoring_station, no? ---- Kovposch (talk) 14:35, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

While the definition for monitoring station is very broad, it still explicitly excludes the kind of monitoring that we are talking about here: This tag doesn't refer to objects used to "monitor" - that means intercept, eavesdrop or wiretap - any communication infrastructure.. For the offices you can use office=*, sure. Could be also combined with the other tags. —Dieterdreist (talk) 09:58, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
I don't mean in particular the interception of communication, in military SIGINT or domestic/civilian surveillance. ELINT receives non-communication signals, and MASINT records signatures. That kind of "scientific" measurement. ---- Kovposch (talk) 10:35, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
