Why do you want to use highway=track with track=racetrack? highway=track is used to map significantly different type of roads. May be it'll be better to use just highway=racetrack?--LEAn 04:52, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

if there is no racing anymore it's just a track. if you like you can call it trackuse=racing instead of track=racetrack.--Cbm 14:42, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
You seriously mean that there is no difference between this and this? --Schuetzm 16:20, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
do you like highway=unclassified roadusage=racing better?--Cbm 19:28, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Definitely better. Maybe this could be accompanied by an appropriate sport=* tag. BTW, I just found that this page already lists "leisure=track (athletics, cycling, motor, horse_racing, ...)" in its summary. --Schuetzm 11:26, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
I certainly use leisure=track all the time, in conjunction with sport=whatever if I know for sure what it is. The only current issue is that Mapnik and/or OSMarender don't render them well. One renders a closed circuit as a an area, I recall. I have not checked recently. MikeCollinson 16:02, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

I think sport=vehicle_racing would work better. The track itself could be labeled highway=service, access=private --Nickvet419 00:14, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

I'd prefer a relation for this. There is a number of racetracks, which are ordinary roads for 51 weeks a year. These include some of the most famous tracks like Monte Carlo, Le Mans or Isle of Man. I don't think one should mark these roads as roadusage=racing. So why not have the used roads as highway=unclassified, highway=secondary, highway=residential or whatever might be appropriate and create a relation showing their combination used for racing? --Spartanischer Esel 11:27, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
