I think the roman portico is more commonly used for a museum, so sugest scales of justice instead.

I proposed the following on the SVG Symbols page. It's a very simple set of scales that could be made more attractive by someone with more time to edit the SVG: TomChance 16:59, 15 October 2006 (BST)
I prefer the scales of justic, the roman pillars are more ambiguous. Cimm, 6 November 2006
Yeah. Roman pillars make me think of a museum actually. But that type of icon is also proposed for Tag:amenity=townhall. So quite ambiguous. -- Harry Wood 15:02, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Area as building?

When mapped as an area does not render as a building. May need another tag building=public ?? If so this should be place on th emain page. Warin61 (talk) 23:09, 13 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

It would be nice to have different levels of courts, e.g. high court, supreme court, etc. Maybe reuse admin_level=* for this? Or a new tag like court_level=*? --Dieterdreist (talk) 10:11, 13 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

admin_level=* is approved for office=government. --Davileci (talk) 07:14, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

building

The definition of this tag contains the phrase

A building which is home to a court of law, which administers justice according to the rule of law.

But in fact, it is not always a separate building (the court can only occupy part of the building). If you don't mind, I'd like to change the definition to:

Court of law, which administers justice according to the rule of law.
