This page should be deleted. Brand name tags aren't defacto and the wiki shouldn't be a repository of pages containing brand or product information that's not strictly related to OSM or something dealing with it anyway. There's plenty of other places for that. You can do a basic Google search to found out about Harley-Davidson. Its not a repository of every product a store sells either. There's zero reason motorcycle shops should be a unique exception. --Adamant1 (talk) 03:59, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

brand=* is a widely used tag. In fact with exact this brand there were problems to find all [1] as half of them were written without hyphen. Please be more precise if you think "There's plenty of other places", otherwise it's not very helpful. I could imagine a page which collects all (well-defined as linkable to wikidata [2]) brands, an example would be this one DE:Unternehmensketten. A table should then also contain whether there are templates in ID (as in this example, unfortunately the template itself had a typo [3] regarding the brand).

Key:brand says "Typically this tag is used where the name of the brand is more recognisable (and therefore of more interest to data users) than the name of the outlet." IMHO this would typically apply to chain stores, but as far as I see, Rtfm wants tag all shops that sell this brand. This would lead to a massive use of semicolon values, which in turn conflicts with the guideline Don't over-use semicolon separated values. Maybe you should consider this? --Tigerfell This user is member of the wiki team of OSM (Let's talk) 12:22, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
I don't get the point. A brand is about the sold brand, right ? In case it's a chain which sells lots of clothes brands or similar, I would certainly NOT add all those brands (but only the chain name). But in case of a motorcycle shop which sells several motorcycle brands how could you avoid to use a semicolon ? rtfm Rtfm (talk) 19:10, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
No. Based on my interpretation of the definition of brand=*, I would tag only those shops which are specifically branded as HD with this tag. --Tigerfell This user is member of the wiki team of OSM (Let's talk) 22:27, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
