This is preferred over mapping the whole terrace as building=terrace.

Why it was created? (question in your change comment) -> best practice recommends documenting the tags you use, so asking for them to be removed makes no sense

Who said it's prefered ? this sentence "This tag is most commonly used as a less-detailed option" on building=terrace

Tone and motivation

house=terraced is dominant, even when the mass edits are ignored. It's not a must to stick to the building=* / building=*_house format.

all the house=* values together make less than 1.4 millions entries.

building=detached alone 8 million
