Deprecated

Hi, Maro21! Please explain why this tag is "deprecated"? This change has been discussed? Something B (talk) 08:28, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Becacuse we have more popular way of tagging drink:beer=yes. Why do you think that both tags should be used? maro21 22:15, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
This doesn't mean it's deprecated. Please make a proposal.
Both drink=* and drink:*=* can be in use at the same time. rental=* , *_rental=* , and *:rental=* is an example of such disagreement. For food, cuisine=* is semicolon multival. drink=* might also be used to indicate the main offering, without needing to create drink:*:*=main somehow. And how do you show multiple activities for each drink?
Furthermore drink:*=* is not without problems. From Talk:Key:drink:*#Replacement_for_"retail"? , I can already think of interfacing problems with sells:*=* and takeaway=* that needs to be resolved. There is even a few coffee:sales=* from another controversy with Shop suffix by a certain user.
https://taghistory.raifer.tech/?#***/coffee/&***/drink:coffee/ It can be seen most drink:coffee=* are from jumps or sharp rises. For this format, there are a few hundreds of coffee:brand=* , which is useful and valuable info, and cleaner than brewery=* , distillery=* , and winery=* for alcohol.
I don't know who specified Key:drink:*#Keys drink:coffee=* to be non-espresso. Similarly, there are many alcohol varieties that subcategorizing eg *:brandy:cognac=* may be better than *:cognac=* . Apparently there are more wine:*=* in Key:winery#Usage somehow. For beer, there is real_ale=* that needs to be considered, that overlaps with both drink:beer=draught and brewery=* .
There are many issues. Merely doing "deprecation" don't fix them.
