Is the tag man_made=pipeline must be? This is written in the beginning of the article, but in the Examples section I don't see this tag --Literan (talk) 20:36, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

no, the tag man_made=pipeline is not required. the description "Use this tag only in combination with man_made=pipeline" is unfortunately misleading. It means that substations are almost always facilities where pipelines start, end or pass through. therefore substations are used in combination with pipelines. hth. --Rfuegen (talk) 22:50, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
I deleted the sentence. --geozeisig (talk) 09:50, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
OK, tnx. --Rfuegen (talk) 11:51, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

Comment from user "Pezhman"

Pipeline transmission is not industrial, since no goods are produced. In the long term I would like to accomplish rendering pipeline substation even without the landuse=industrial tag on openstreetmap-carto.--User:Pezhman

Pezhman, do not focus on the words of tag, read their description. The tag may sound like asoidjaso=293481238, it's only conventionality. --literan (talk) 19:42, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

industrial=*

What industrial=* subtag would be good for such places? maro21 16:44, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

You don't necessarily need one. pipeline=substation or power=station on a landuse=industrial is sufficient. ---- Kovposch (talk) 03:30, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
