There is shop=communication, too. Even only with >260 uses I would preffer this one for it's more general usage. --!i! This user is member of the wiki team of OSM 07:40, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
This table should be available on all tags where there are conflicting tag names, in order for people to see which are the popular one. Also the {{Merge}}-template should be on all of these. Do not care which one is the better with regards of these templates, it should be present on all conflicting pages until an actual merge have been done. --Skippern 13:06, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Or do the sane thing and redirect other tags to this page instead of duplicating the same information 10 times... -- JohnSmith 20:55, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Actually, shop=communication would be better as many of these shops also offer land line and internet services. Mobile phone is a little to restrictive IMO. Confucion is complete when office=telecommunication starts tagging function=retail on top of this. --Skippern 16:54, 3 September 2011 (BST)

I've added a few things as shop=communications, however these were a different type of shop. See Talk:Key:internet_access#internet_access_shop (with photos). So my use of this tag was not as a duplicate. These are not exactly mobile phone shops.
I suppose we could think of it as an umbrella term, where perhaps mapping with a more specific term is preferable. Another umbrella term is 'electonics' of course. We could map all mobile shops as shop=electronics. ...just to add another tag to the pot :-)

Tag Spelling and Usage

Shops selling SIM cards, calling cards, prepaid minutes etc?

Is there any tag for this yet? RicoZ (talk) 11:17, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
