How are the dishes tagged which communicate with rovers on moon or mars or are an observatory (non-satellite-receivers) ? rtfm Rtfm (talk) 13:39, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

I agree with the concern in Talk:Tag:man_made=satellite_dish#Poor_definition (I don't understand why Proposed_features/man_made=ground_station pointed to building=*). By the same logic, a dish-transceiver could be considered as a part of a "telescope", similar to the relationship in man_made=observatory. ---- Kovposch (talk) 09:39, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
Aside from what I mentioned in Talk:Tag:man_made=telescope#Type_vs_spectrum, you rightly pointed out communication=interplanetary may also be useful for the reach or target, conflicting with the spectrum. ---- Kovposch (talk) 09:45, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

Towers are not antennas! So tower:construction=dish is a nonsense. Spectrum can be specified using the frequency=*. Many things poorly tagged in this area. Warin61 (talk) 07:12, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

I agree the telescope itself isn't a "tower", also see https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/3536910 and a satellite dish not (only) an "antenna" https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/7619191231. Tried to consolidate the "space communication"-related here : https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:communication:space Rtfm (talk) 17:25, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
