less than 360

How one is supposed to tag observation point that is for observing birds and landscape but

  • observer is not hidden in any way whatsoever from birds
  • there is no full view of surroundings - front toward lake, back view is immediately locked by trees

I don't believe "full 360 degree range of vision" should be a requirement. Is this strictly followed? I don't suppose tower:type=watchtower mandates this either. Similar to tourism=viewpoint mentioned, direction=* could be used. The issue would be on leisure=bird_hide (and leisure=wildlife_hide), as it combines both the subject being watched and a "hide" aspect. -- Kovposch (talk) 12:58, 18 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Observation platforms

Let's discuss a one meter tall platform for observing nature. Like the on on https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/76344/how-to-map-elevated-deck-areas-for-observation-leisure-etc , but perhaps not that spacious.

Just like mentioned on Tag:leisure=bird_hide if the birds can see you, then it is an Tag:tower:type=observation.

I guess that is what it shall be, with height=1, though I would have called it an observation platform, not tower. Jidanni (talk) 13:51, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
