Heading

Perhaps it would be even better if heading (How to map) would included. Currently, there are not very many applications, so it would be able to change this. --geozeisig (talk) 07:07, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

This template is not helpful

It is the next step to obsfucate wikicode, make visual editor more confused. As result it makes editing Wiki harder and futher restricts it to tiny group that can use templates Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 06:42, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

And I support removing it from articles and replacing with an editable text. This allows to fix various issues Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 18:55, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
The template supports the translation process as you can copy the wiki markup from one translation to another without the need to know the language. I would like to see how you plan to address this when considering a removal. Additionally, I would like to know what you exactly mean when you write "various issues". The concerns mentioned in the first comment apply to almost all templates, so I do not see a specific issue with this one. --Tigerfell This user is member of the wiki team of OSM (Let's talk) 09:12, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
I agree that it is more general issuse. For me templates generating some clear parts like infobox are not problematic (as it actually can be standarized well), template {{tag|key|value}} is also quite clear. But I really dislike templates generating text within article as changing, tweaking and improving it is unreasonably hard. It is especially confusing for someone without bigger experience in editing wikicode. Example of unreasonably hard things to do in case of this template: changing order of items on the list, adding new items on the list, adding more specific comments... All of that would be easier to do with normal text
"how you plan to address this when considering a removal" - replace all instances by a normal text. I am not convinced that minor help during translating is worth making usual editing significantly more complicated. And note that this adds new issue for translators - for languages where translation is missing or broken Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 23:56, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
"The template supports the translation process as you can copy the wiki markup from one translation to another without the need to know the language." why someone translating would create pages in languages that they do not understand? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 22:25, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
To elaborate on problems caused by this template: instead of using standard syntax (that is needed elsewhere anyway), user is forced to deal with magically generated text. Tasks, simple with normal list such as removal of entry, adding tag specific to a given page, reordering items are complicated, require special handling unique to that template or are impossible. I agree with you Mateusz! I was removing this template from pages before reading the discussion here. I've already removed it from all Pl:* pages. I don't use visual editor but some people may use it. I think templates are there to make work easier for editors. There's nothing easier if I copy
{{Common tags to use in combination
|operator=yes
|address=yes
|phone=yes
|opening_hours=yes
|wheelchair=yes
|website=yes
}}
or
* {{Key|opening_hours}} – godziny otwarcia
* {{Key|brand}} – marka sklepu
* {{Key|website}} – strona internetowa
* {{Key|phone}} – numer telefonu
* {{Key|addr}} – adres
* {{Key|operator}} – zarządca
* {{Key|wheelchair}} – dostępność dla wózków inwalidzkich
It takes the same amount of work and time. And in the first case I can't change the order, I can't add another key between the others, I don't know what's going to display, and it's difficult for people not familiar with wiki, as you said. If someone wants to add another tag to the list, they will do like this "|another_tag=yes" and it won't work. So with the wikitext I can freely reorder the keys or change the description. I support getting rid of this template. maro21 23:45, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
I also agree, this template is not helpful and it should be deleted from all pages where it is currently used. --Jeisenbe (talk) 04:34, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
I think that complete removal from other languages should not be done without desire expressed by translators maintaining that pages. But it should be possible to either add a category or show some warning on English language pages - instead of displaying a list Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 21:25, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

there is no addr tag

"addr=* - the address of this feature" - there is no addr tag. Maybe link to address page? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 18:56, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
