Proposal

I propose that the key riverbed=* should be added. This tag describes the area that has been carved out by the river but the river doesn't normally occupy. This area is occupied by the river during flooding of the river.

Rationale

This tag describes features such as rivers with a change in height depending on certain events. This feature should be useful for rivers with large fluctuations of water flow and a discernible riverbed larger than the normal area covered by the river. This tag can apply to desert rivers which have flow in a constricted area but has a larger riverbed. This feature also describes something that has inconsistent tagging. Tag:water=river#Areas without vegetation exists but has no official way of tagging. This proposal is different to adding intermittent=yes along with natural=water and water=river because the river does not typically occupy this area.

Tagging

The new key, riverbed=*, will be added to account for the missing tagging of this. The key will be paired with natural=water + water=river.
