Comparison of "contact:website / website / url" tagging and showing some pros and cons.


Taginfo

To illustrate how often each tag is used, here are the taginfo statistics for these different tags:

contact:website=* website=* url=*
contact:phone=* phone=*
contact:email=* email=*
contact:fax=* fax=*

Notes & Advantages

All three tagings having equal rights.
There is an advantage of website=* and url=*: It's faster to use, because you don't have to type in so many letter, if you don't use any editor presets
There is an advantage of contact:website=*: For getting better/faster overview of tag arrangement which will be a kind of a group for namespace contact=*. This is similar which osm also used for addr=*. See following table for illustration.

Interpreter software should know all of them anyway.
