Routable Maps
Are the routable maps still being generated or have they got stuck tonight? It would be nice to see the current request queue (maybe encrypted email addresses), or at least the number in the queue so we can tell if it is moving without rerequesting a map. - LastGrape/Gregory 23:15, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Forum authentication
Do you still work on the integration of OSM protocol authentication into the forum? Perhaps you can make some notes about the current status on the Single sign on Page. -- Mardocz 16:21, 01 Nov 2007 (CET)
- Yes, consensus about the route to be taken was reached last week. It has been decided to try to use the API for authentication. I'm looking into this but I do not make predictions on when it will be ready. --Lambertus 21:14, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Using the main OpenStreetMap API to authenticate users for the forum is now implemented. --Lambertus 20:55, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
--Lambertus 22:11, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Your Frisian Maps
Hello Lambertus, I saw, that you are working on the integration of Frisian place names into OpenStreetMaps. I am interested in the integration of Low Saxon place names and I would like to hear about your experience. Are there special tools with which I could import larger amounts of place names? What are your working methods? Are there any more things to consider or to keep in mind? --::Slomox:: >< 12:10, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well, we (I didn't do this alone) downloaded all placenames using osmxapi for that area and edited those names using JOSM. When the editing was finished the changes were uploaded with JOSM also. 'Editing the placenames' means we manually added name:fy tags to the exiting placename nodes. --Lambertus 13:08, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you. I tried osmxapi, but it doesn't work, if I enter "wget http://www.informationfreeway.org/api/0.5/node[amenity=hospital] -O data.osm" into the command line (I tried other commands like "wget http://www.informationfreeway.org/api/0.5/node[lang:fy=*] -O data.osm" too), I only get an "501 internal server error". What can be the reason for that?
- I had success in downloading data via JOSM directly, but the limitation to 0.25 degrees makes it less useful for adding place names in a greater region. Is it possible to edit saved .osm files with a text editor or is this not recommended (data consistency or whatever)? --::Slomox:: >< 15:05, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- I used the following command to retrieve all place nodes from the osmxapi: http://osmxapi.hypercube.telascience.org/api/0.5/node%5Bplace=*%5D%5Bbbox=4.8,52.0,7.3,53.6%5D Just change the bounding box and it should work for you. Downloading with JOSM is not recommended for this type of job. --Lambertus 16:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hm, I get 501 internal server errors whatever I try. Is the server down? Are your requests working? --::Slomox:: >< 16:57, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

- Great. Does work now. Thank you. And there already are Low Saxon translations. Well, plural does not fit, it's exactly one place name. But that will hopefully change in the future ;-) --::Slomox:: >< 20:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Hoi Lambertus,
uhai needs help with forum
I got a problem to registrate in the forum. I got the email and confirmed it. But I'm not able to login, every login gets refused. forgotten password doesn't help anyway, a new registration with same user/email is refused too.
Could you please have a look at the tables for user uhai?
I'm sorry to write here, but I found no other way to contact you. Your help is very welcome.
uhai--uhai 13:05, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- You can login using the same account (username or e-mail addres and password) of the main OpenStreetMap website. Hope this helps. --Lambertus 20:46, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Your toolchain to create cycle maps
Hi Lambertus,
I am trying to get good cycle maps for Austria from osm data. Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to do it, yet. I was reading a lot about mkgmap but I still don't know how to use it. You wrote somewhere, that your complete toolchain is in Linux which would be very suitable for me. I'm using Kubuntu 8.10. It would be very nice, if you could tell me which commands and which stylefiles you are using. Any help would be much appreciated. Tikey 13:47, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Contact
Hi Lambertus, I would like to send you a mail... --Markus 08:45, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Markus, you can always use the OSM private mail function, but osm at na1400 dot info will also be fine. --Lambertus 11:38, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Frisian language map
I believe your Frisian language map was the first example of OpenStreetMap Map Internationalization. I added a link on that page. But is that map broken at the moment? -- Harry Wood 09:38, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Forum for Wikiteam
Hi Lambertus,
I send you already a PM but it might get lost. I would like to please you to add a new forum for the people working on the wiki. There is now a wikiteam (but is informal) that would like to provide support to novice users and react on cleanup requests. We think a forum would be a better sollution for requests and our own coordination.--!i! 10:13, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for trying to get my attention. Indeed, I hadn't read it so it got probably marked as read like most of the other bulk email... but I'll add the forum asap. --Lambertus 19:14, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
Forums wikipage
Hi L., some users had problems to find the admin of the forums, so I updated the wikipage Forum. Can you please add further details concerning hosting and history? --!i! 18:09, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for setting up that page. I added some additional info --Lambertus 20:17, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Forums Users:Algeria
Hi Lambertus, I try to create a forum for algerian users on the news OSM forum. Thank you, it's the best way to coordinate the project. Thanks. --Sandervalya 21:47, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- A forum for Algeria has been created. --Lambertus 20:53, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Data dump for statistical analyses
Hi Lambertus,
I thinking about doing statistical analyses on the community so analysing all communication channels e.g. mailing lists, webfrontend and of course the forums. So here is my question, might it be possible to get a data dump of the forum to process the data and export it anomynised? Or might there be another way of getting the data and link them against other collected data sources (e.g. OSM internal PMs, edit histories,...)? --!i! 18:21, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- I cannot just give a database dump to anyone who's interested in user statistics, there are lots of privacy issues. Have you talked about this to OSMF? I'd like to see a specific list of things they feel that can be released (with or without NDA). --Lambertus 12:57, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- For sure, can you send me your eMail, please? I talked to the OSMF communications group. Harry Wood suggested an procedure, where all datas are processed by the sysadmins on the main server and only the anomynised and unsharpened dataset in the ends will become availabele. I will send you a copy. --!i! 15:10, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- The email address is listed near the top of my User page. --Lambertus 15:26, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Wrong ban of users
Hi Lambertus, currently the forum seems to have a malefunction and says that this user, myself , (and I guess some more) had been banned form spam reasons. No, we didn't spammed at all ;) --!i! 09:06, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- This was caused by a technical failure after the forum moved to another IP address. It is solved on the same day. --Lambertus (talk) 10:57, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Too similar username
Hi Lambertus, a user is complaigning, that he can't signup for his traditional username at the wiki [1]. What do you say, can we allow him to signup, as IMHO it's not THAT similar? --!i! 18:33, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- I wonder what I have to do with this? I admin the forum which uses the main www.openstreetmap.org authentication for access control and forum user creation. I have never interfered with wiki operations. But if you're asking my opinion I'd say that if he can register on www he should also be able to register on wiki with the same name. --Lambertus (talk) 10:56, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- Sry for the inconvince, was my fault as I mixed the different admins.--!i! 20:30, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
New API account
Hi Lambertus, I'd like to create a new identifier for your API if possible. I'd like to test your API YOURS for my startup "Dispatcher" and would perform a lot of requests. Is it possible ? Thanks in advance. Bye Julien
