The issue of 'two-track non-motorized vehicles' being included in the description of 'highway=path'

@Oivo357: Zcela nelogický překlad bez zpětné kontroly významu a souvislostí.

  3. A další drobnosti.

A completely illogical translation without checking the meaning and context.

  1. If it is intended for small vehicles ... "non-motorized" is missing.
  2. If it is not intended for two-wheeled vehicles, then this implies the previous point... they cannot be two-wheeled?
  3. And other small items.
  • This is again a mechanical machine translation by user Oivo357 without deeper checking, where quantity prevails over quality :( If it were a high-quality submission, Oivo357 would have had to find these errors in the English version.

I just translate the english description, just like it is
or in Danish
Meget generel, ikke-specifik betydning.
etc.
If you want to suggest better english description, please contact the author of this english description.--Oivo357 (talk) 11:29, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Okay, I understand that you don't understand the Czech language and are translating mechanically without using reason and logic. Then the translations are useless. --HaPe-CZ (talk) 12:24, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
@HaPe-CZ: You should correct original (English in this case) description first. If original version is bad, translated version will be bad also, no matter how translation is made. Something B (talk) 12:28, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Okay, I'll try. --HaPe-CZ (talk) 12:30, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

  • en: "Designation of a public road for general use, e.g., walking, running, cycling, or riding animals, but also grazing livestock. The road may also be used by small non-motorized vehicles (e.g., animal-drawn carts)." --HaPe-CZ (talk) 15:05, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Sounds good. Something B (talk) 15:08, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
I question, if "public road" is an adequate English term regarding "path". I think a "road" is mainly designated for 2-track vehicles. But my language knowledge isn't perfect. What about "way"? --Chris2map (talk) 15:23, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
@Chris2map ... Yes, that's true. Change "public road" => "public way" or "public path" no problem. --HaPe-CZ (talk) 15:32, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Maybe "public" should be dropped from definition, because this tag applicable to paths with private use or access. Something B (talk) 15:43, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

highway=path can also be accessible to (some or all) forms of two wheeled motorised traffic.--Oivo357 (talk) 16:09, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

@Something B ... The word "public" can be omitted, or the tag "access" can be added for non-public items. --HaPe-CZ (talk) 16:11, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
@Oivo357 se koukni napřed na popis: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Cs:Tag:highway%3Dpath --HaPe-CZ (talk) 16:12, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
First, is the addition of the content 'small non-motorized vehicles (e.g., animal-drawn carts)' a matter that has been agreed upon? I believe such content can overturn the concept of 'highway,' more than just modifying a sentence. I don't know how it is in your country, but generally, motorized vehicles can also travel on roads where things like animal-drawn carts travel, and this concept overlaps with 'highway=track.' I request that changes of a magnitude that overturns the existing classification system be made through consensus. Otherwise, we will not adhere to it, and you should also consider arbitrarily reverting the content. --깨몽/dreamy (talk) 04:25, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
@Adreamy ... see image and read https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:highway%3Dpath. The item description has been modified and simplified (shortened) according to this description on the wiki. --HaPe-CZ (talk) 06:57, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
@ALL ... Please read the extended description of the item at Tag:highway=path. These roads are not primarily intended for cars in the description. --HaPe-CZ (talk) 17:45, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
The current description (En) does not correspond to the actual and correct description on the wiki page. --HaPe-CZ (talk) 13:22, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
Please do not change the definition of highway=path without broad community discussion. The only discussion is hidden on the Item:Q5030 talk page, not discussed on highway=path or https://community.openstreetmap.org/ where it would get real visibility. If you want to change a significant definition, please discuss it broadly with the community. For a long time a big distinction between highway=path and highway=track is 1-track versus 2-track. As well, use by electric bicycle and motorcycle (1-track motorized vehicle) use may be appropriate for some highway=path whereas highway=track may be more appropriate for 2-track ox-carts and horse-drawn farm equipment. The changes made to these pages significantly shift the way people trying to figure out which to use would interpret when to use highway=path. If you feel that the description of the tag can be improved, please create a thread on https://community.openstreetmap.org/ where many others can weigh in. --Adamfranco (talk) 13:36, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
"The only discussion is hidden on the Item:Q5030 talk page" ... an excellent solution, anything that doesn't fit is deleted so that it isn't visible. That's a good idea on how to proceed. --HaPe-CZ (talk) 14:00, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
