Indicates that a feature has a toilet if the value is yes, or that there are none if the value is no.
Even if it seems standard that a feature has a toilet, adding the tag is useful. For example, not every restaurant in every country will have a toilet.
There are some additional tags that may be important to describe the toilet facility itself:
- Whether the toilet is suitable for wheelchair users. Use toilets:wheelchair=yes/no/limited.
- Whether the toilet is suitable for gender-neutral use. Use toilets:unisex=yes/no.
It is also possible to tag a toilet available for everybody as a separate object. Place a node centrally at the location of the toilet amenities and tag it
centrally at the location of the toilet amenities and tag it amenity=toilets.
toilets:access=yes may be used to indicate that toilet is available for everybody and toilets:access=customers may be used to indicate that access is restricted to customers of the object.
Some mappers use the toilets:*=* namespace also for additional information, like for example toilets:fee=* or toilets:charge=*. See fee=* and charge=* accordingly.
Example
- amenity=fuel
- operator=Esso
- toilets=yes
- opening_hours=*
- toilets:access=yes
- toilets:unisex=yes
