General tags in Spain are:
Milestones
The following tags might be sufficient:
- railway=milestone
- railway:position=* VALUE in km, decimals separated with "."
Track gauge
Spain and the iberian peninsula has traditionally used Iberian gauge (Ancho ibérico) (1668mm)
But since the 1990s new railways have been laid out that use the standard (1435mm) that are mainly used for high speed lines. Some metro and tram also use it.
In some parts of the country the local railway uses narrow gauge(Ancho métrico)

The following electrification systems are used in Spain:
Non-electrified
Iberian gauge
Standard gauge in ADIF high speed lines

With Spanish ASFA (Anuncio de Señales y Frenado Automático)

Signalling
General tags
These tags should be on every signal:
- railway=signal
- railway:signal:direction=(forward/backward) according to the direction of the way
- railway:signal:position=(left/right) according to the direction of the way
- railway:position:exact=365.913 where 365.913 is an example
Main signals
Main signals exist with two aspects (from top: green, red) or three aspects (from top: green, red, yellow)
- railway:signal:main=(ES:main)
- railway:signal:main:form=light
- railway:signal:main:function=(exit/block/entry/intermediate)
