Public ones

I think it would be a good idea to define sample_collection=yes as limited to public accessible places. So for example hospital that is doing internal testing would not be included, but hospital that you also would visit just to leave samples for testing would be included. Is it a good idea? Do you mean in-patient? This would still be useful for navigation, possibly to the patient's family and friends. What about eg employee (cf access=private), and insured only healthcare (cf access=customers)? Not sure if this is already handled by other property tags in healthcare=laboratory. Noticed there's "A medical laboratory is usually open to the public" in Tag:healthcare=laboratory. ---- Kovposch (talk) 13:22, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
"A medical laboratory is usually open to the public" seems untrue to me, is it normal that you go inside laboratory itself? Where samples are tested/measured? Or is Tag:healthcare=laboratory supposed to be used for sample collection (how places where actual testing takes place are tagged then) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:03, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I agree. If it's not public it's not verifiable so mappers won't really be able to confirm if it exists. Similarly, I won't map the vaccinaton site in the conference room next to my clinic, because it's only for employees of the County so far - but if they open it up as a public vaccination site, then it would be mappable. --Jeisenbe (talk) 08:31, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
Some nonpublic ones will be verifiable (for example, thanks to a clear external signage) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 09:26, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

My edits

I again arrived and made bunch of edits - feel free to revert things that you disagree with (especially if you plan to move forward with that proposal) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 09:06, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Thanks! I actually thought you had already made a proposal for this tag, but I decided to make a page. Feel free to take it over if you want. --Jeisenbe (talk) 05:59, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
I have two active queued proposals right now, so also feel free to start a RFC! (I plan to not have multiple active votes at once) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 09:28, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

non-dedicated facilities

The current page states: "This tag is for standalone locations or dedicated facilities and should not be added to features which are also tagged as a healthcare facility, such as amenity=hospital or healthcare=laboratory. However, there may be a healthcare=sample_collection location next to a hospital or or clinic."

Suppose I would like to map the location within a hospital where (possible very specific) samples are taken. This could be for example a part/room of an outpatient department. Rhetorical question (i.e., this should be answered by the proposal): How would I do that and what's the rationale for not using healthcare=sample_collection? --Stefanct (talk) 18:08, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

  • If hospital has such dedicated location then it is mappable and it can be mapped. But if hospital has no dedicated location (and it happens in multipurpose room that can be also used for other purposes) then it is mappable only as a property. • Added "Or inside it if there is a dedicated location for that." Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 18:32, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Agree with "or inside it if there is a dedicated location". Often inside a GP center there will be an office/room for sample collection, but it's run by another company and you can pop into their even if you're not seeing the doctor from that office. So in this case it's still good to tag it even though it's inside the doctors office. --Aharvey (talk) 00:38, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Different kinds of COVID-19 test

What is about the differentiation between a flash test and a PCR-Test? There opened a lot of "Test-Centres" (meanly in pharmacies.)They offer a flash test, which you have to pay. If the flash test is positive you have to make a PCR-Test at another location.--Aeonesa (talk) 09:57, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

I am not planning to include it in this proposal, feel free to make separate or just start using some new tag (any tags you like) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 10:16, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Somebody near me has used covid19:antigen_test=yes and covid19:pcr_test=yes for that purpose (I do not currently have any opinion on that). --Stefanct (talk) 20:05, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
