The tag marker=post is used for a standard marker or sign on a small post or mast with written information. The support post is specifically designed to hold the marker.
A post marker is maybe the most standard marker you'll ever find. Useful information, including the representative colour of the infrastructure it is related to, may be seen directly on the pole. Sometimes a plate is installed on top.
The pole has to be dedicated to each individual marker. If not, you may have to use marker=plate which may better correspond to other situations.
