The tag utility=oil is added to a feature (such as a marker=*, man_made=street_cabinet or building=service) to specify it is part of infrastructure related to oil and petroleum products transmission or distribution.

Petroleum products transmission is going from production wells to processing refineries and distribution to consumption places. This value covers all facilities involved in such processes for several substance=* values including oil, kerosene or fuel.

It shouldn't be confused with Petrochemicals (see utility=chemical), or utility=gas for natural gas or bio-methane networks.

Oil utility usually corresponds to UN International Standard Industrial Classification classes 1920 (Manufacture of refined petroleum products) or 4930 (Transport via pipeline).
