A building originally built as a civic building to host any civic amenity (town hall, library, community centre etc.).

How to map

Draw an area area along the building outline. In cases where it is impossible one may set a node node instead. Tag it with building=civic.

To provide further details about facilities, offices, etc. in a building that have contact information, use amenity=*, office=*, leisure=* or tourism=*, such as amenity=townhall, amenity=community_centre, office=government, leisure=sports_hall, tourism=museum or similar.

Note: The tag building=* defines the architectural type of a building, which may differ from its current use.

For example, a building that was built as a building=civic is now used as a restaurant, and therefore the combination building=civic + building:use=restaurant is used. The restaurant itself with contact information is tagged as amenity=restaurant.
