A folly is a building or other architectural structure constructed primarily for decoration, but suggesting through its appearance some other purpose, or of such extravagant appearance that it transcends the range of garden ornaments usually associated with the class of buildings to which it belongs. There are various types of folly that are replicas of castles, towers, religious buildings, ruins, bridges, aqueducts and so on.
How to map
Draw an area along the feature outline or create a line along the structure such as a bridge or aqueduct. If it is not possible to determine the exact shape, one may set a node instead. Add historic=folly.
If the building was originally built as a folly add also building=folly.
