We should mark the key facebook as deprecated. See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:contact:facebook for correct appending of Facebook profiles to POI data. We don't need two keys doing and meaning the same.

As software developer I discovered this practice multiple times and I am very unhappy about it. It costs me much time to find out all the different keys for what I want to deliver to my costumers. It also messes up my code when I have to add all the different keys for just one piece of data.

What we should really working on to remove the duplicates from listings in Wiki or even better marking them as deprecated and then to remove/replace them in the world wide database. This cleans up much and makes OSM and the use of keys more transparent. --Valor Naram (talk) 20:31, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

We could also remove the contact:=* prefix according to the  KISS principle ;)

And, please continue the process: the value is the URL or the Facebook user name. To make it clean it should be something like ref:facebook=FacebookUserName. --Nospam2005 (talk) 09:41, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
