I assumed cycleway=lane on a two way road means you have a cyclelane on each side of the road, with each side in the same direction as vehicles. On a one way road it implies a single directional cycle lane on the left hand side for left hand drive countries, or right hand side for right hand drive countries. --Aharvey (talk) 05:08, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
You're right. In the case of one-way streets, it is clear which side the cycle path is on. But only for people not for the renderer. So it's better to add the right/left. A blue line is then drawn on both sides of the bicycle map (Example). --geozeisig (talk) 07:21, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Doorzone

I'm guessing that "pictogram" means it's signed by pictograms on the pavement and "advisory" is probably the same as cycleway=shared_lane, but what does "doorzone" mean? Rostaman (talk) 18:12, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Andrew Harvey came up with that. It is supposed to describe a cycle lane which is too close to a lane of parking cars, so it is dangerous to use it because you might get "doored". I discussed with him that it would be better to describe this property as a separate tag, so he created this proposal: Proposed_features/Key:cycleway:doorzone --Westnordost (talk) 19:12, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Forward to article cycleway=lane?

Does anything speak against merging/forwarding this article into Key:cycleway:lane? In my opinion, it doesn't make sense to duplicate the information there on this page (and on the page for cycleway:left=lane, cycleway:both=lane and the many more combinations there are). The :left/:right/:both prefixes don't make this tag any different from cycleway=lane, it is just a modifier that can be applied to all properties of a sidewalk or cycleway: cycleway:surface, cycleway:width, cycleway:segregated, cycleway:buffer and many more. --Westnordost (talk) 19:10, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Leaving bare stub should be OK, but there is some value in having basic description (used by taginfo, linked from OSM website and some editors), useful for automatic describing the tag and so on Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 18:56, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
Hmm, could you do that (regarding the stub)? I am not sure what you have in mind --Westnordost (talk) 19:24, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
