Other types of Mountain Rescue

As discussed at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Talk:Proposed_features/Rescue_Stations#My_proposal & in the tagging list, should we assume, & so define, =mountain_rescue as dealing with all emergencies that occur in the mountains, or should we have sub-tags for other, possibly more specialised groups eg

I've looked into the situation here in Germany and from that standpoint, it makes no sense to differentiate. Here every active mountain rescuer has a basic qualification in summer and winter rescue, so all your proposed values are already covered. Then with further experience one can do additional training in more specialised fields like air rescue, cave rescue, search dogs etc. Overall I think it's enough to say that there's a mountain rescue station, after all we also don't record if a fire station has an aerial ladder, hazmat units, etc.--TOGA (talk) 22:58, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Thanks! That goes along with my (admittedly very limited!) understanding --Fizzie41 (talk) 23:53, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Use of maintained=* in this context?

The text was just added: "If you are aware of any Rescue Boxes that are maintained by this Station, consider tagging them as emergency=rescue_box + maintained=* <name of the Station>"

This seems a strange way to tag this information, is this actually being used? The key maintained=* is not currently documented, it has a nearly blank page though it was used over 1600 times. Basically all the uses have the value of "Halifax␣Regional␣Municipality" or another tag from Halifax, or "no" - only one seems to be related to mountain rescue. https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/maintained

I would suggest thinking of a different way to tag that information. --Jeisenbe (talk) 07:16, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Possibly better alternative: operator=* (commonly tag for whoever or whatever is the operator of a feature) --Jeisenbe (talk) 07:18, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
I did it as it is standard tagging for such info Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 07:50, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

I spotted it here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/822976645, when looking at existing Mountain Rescue stations, & thought that Yes, that makes sense. --Fizzie41 (talk) 23:09, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
