Active tanks (pay-for-ride) ?

How to map active demilitarized tanks, which one can pay to ride in (or even drive) as a tourist attraction? --mnalis (talk) 18:40, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

You'd usually drive it outside, I assume on limited area and not on regular streets! For latest example that triggered this question, see facebook/website of this node --mnalis (talk) 15:22, 22 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Name?

Wiki says "You can also name it with name=* ... name=* - the name of this tank"?

Should name = an actual name painted on the vehicle e.g. "Mephisto" https://live-production.wcms.abc-cdn.net.au/2b5bdd4c8b808b9869d489ea825a5539 or = the type / model of tank e.g. Leopard 1? https://www.flickr.com/photos/vk2gwk/16826978500

Currently mapped both ways e.g https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/378294278, https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/10292826394, https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/716014166 - & also as buildings! https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/202759459

I would say name should = an actual name marked on it, while tank:model= should be the actual type / model of tank.

Is everybody happy with that? --Fizzie41 (talk) 05:43, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Turns out this was covered under the https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Manufacturer_and_Model proposal, so I'll update the page to suit --Fizzie41 (talk) 22:33, 25 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Memorial?

When does a tank become a War Memorial?

Is it one if it's parked outside a Returned Servicemen's club? --Fizzie41 (talk) 05:44, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

For example, if the USA gives France one of its old tanks from World War II, which is to be permanently installed to commemorate the fight against Hitler's Germany, like this one: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/438188165.
